When the team relocated from Winnipeg in 1996, the Kachina logo was created. It was inspired by the ancient spirits of the Pueblo people. It featured a hockey-stick-wielding coyote in a patchwork of Southwest colors such as green, brick red, sand, and purple. With their new mindset, the Coyotes issued a statement waving goodbye to slogans and taglines. However, by issuing the "no slogans or taglines" statement, the group produced a new slogan.
