Vanderbilt University's intercollegiate sporting teams are known as the Vanderbilt Commodores. The University is located in Nashville, Tennessee. The team has five NCAA team national championships to its credit. For the first time in school history, the Commodores competed in consecutive bowl games in 2011 and 2012. The 2012 squad posted Vanderbilt's first 9-win season in over 80 years. Following each football team victory, a solid black flag bearing the Vanderbilt Athletics logo is hoisted above the west side of Vanderbilt Stadium for seven days.
