The University of Portland's athletic team is known as the Portland Pilots. In their history, the men's team has won the NCAA West Regional four times: in 1993, 2017, 2018, and 2019. While, in 2002 and 2005, the women's soccer team won two NCAA team championships. The old Portland Pilots logo was rather intricate; the new one is more minimalistic and sleeker in appearance. From 1992 to 2005, the emblem was a ship's wheel with an anchor inside. The word "Pilots" was written over it in an elaborate handwriting-like font. The current logo, on the other hand, features a large "P." The letter had a soft outline and appeared to be abstract.
