New York Yankees lost the deciding game in 1904 by the Boston Americans, who ultimately became the Boston Red Sox. Highlander pitcher Jack Chesbro established the single-season win record that year with 41. There was no explicit World Series agreement at the time. So, the AL and NL winners would play each other. The logo of the team was inspired by Louis B. Tiffany's silver shield-shaped Medal of Valor. Bill Devery, a club co-owner, effectively stole the logo to represent unity and sportsmanship. The team's tagline is "You Win Some, You Lose One"
