The University of Alabama at Birmingham's varsity intercollegiate athletic programs are known as the UAB Blazers (UAB). The University’s athletic logo depicts a dragon with flames coming out of his mouth. In other words, it is one of the visual manifestations of the metaphor implied by the word "Blazers."
