To Whom It May Concern,
As a company, the adidas - Group is committed to sustainable business practices and we apply these to the selection of the materials used in our products.
We have therefore been developing tools and policies in order to pro-actively provide product-related consumer- and environment-safety measurements, which is activity.
Clear standards that follow the strictest local regulations and best practice standards for consumer care and safety are specified in our policy for monitoring and control of hazardous substances. This policy has been communicated as mandatory to all business partners and is updated continuously by consulting with scientific organizations. Materials monitoring is executed in collaboration with internationally accepted external testing institutes. The standards set in the policy cover the requirements widely accepted for Eco-Labels and green seals (e.g. OEKO-Tex
Standard 100; Tox Proof TUV Rhineland etc.) for footwear, hardware and apparel products.Material samples are constantly checked for these requirements by external testing institutes as well as by our internal quality laboratories. Materials that fail our standards and specifications are rejected and are not manufactured in our products.
Additionally, all safety and compliance testing recognised within the US and EU is carefully applied to each product as appropriate and necessary to satisfy industry standards and legal obligations.
For example, under the US PSIA, importers of certain consumer products are required to provide certificates of compliance (“COC’s”) certifying that such products comply with certain consumer product safety laws, regulations or standards. The CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) has indicated that it is acceptable for an importer to furnish the COC’s to retailers electronically, if the certificate is reasonably accessible by the retailer through a unique identifier that can be accessed via the internet.
We have established an electronic system that will enable us to provide access to the required COC’s for those products meeting such required criteria via the following web-portal link: https://cpsia.adidasgroup.com.
